The collaboration between ENSER and the Spanish Company AYESA, main partners of a Joint Venture with other professionals, has reached its objective: we completed and delivered to the Province of Parma the Technical-Economical Feasibility Design (PFTE) of the bridge over the river Po connecting Colorno (PR) and Casalmaggiore (CR). While the stakeholders are now reviewing the Design, this is an important step towards the realization of a bridge that will not only bring closer the two above mentioned municipalities, but two Regions of Italy (Emilia-Romagna and Lombardia) and all the activities of the two territories. The Design is now in the hands of ANAS to be brought forward in the next development phases.

The new bridge, having an estimated total cost of 300M€ and construction times of approx. 5 years, will be built next to the existing one (that will stay in operation during the construction works) and will replace it at the end. The new bridge will be higher than the exiting one by approx. 3m, overall 2km long, and will consist of: the 460m main bridge over the river Po, with three metallic arch spans of 150m length each; the crossing of the southern floodplain along 1500m of multi-span viaduct. The main bridge will have only two piles inside the river, which is beneficial for the navigation and for hydraulic safety reasons, in particular to minimize the accumulation of river-transported debris by the piles themselves.
