Project summary

The Bullnose project concerns the construction of a new Port quay in a strategic location of the Lagos commercial port, located in the Apapa urbanization of Lagos (Lagos State), in Nigeria. The purpose of the new quay is the transit of containers, bulk and general cargo.

The structures designed by ENSER consist of:

  • A closed quay retained by a combi-wall;
  • A concrete deck on piles which constitutes the mooring structure, in front of a 13m water depth.

The deck on piles is divided on several plates separated by expansion joints. The platform has a width of 30m and is supported, on land side, by the combi-wall which is also the earth retaining structure.

Among other aspects of this project, ENSER has conceived a specific coupling method between the sheet piles of the combi-wall, which allowed to avoid the (expensive) purchase of special elements from abroad.

Beyond the Preliminary and Detailed Design, ENSER has supported Trevi with a complete technical consultancy, including the design of the rehabilitation of some existing structures and the daily support during construction (load tests, non conformities, etc.).
