Project summary

This structure is necessary to create and automated suspended path for industrial products through a number of warehouses. It consists of a series of steel structures, with a length of aprox. 200m to connect the service bridge (crossing a busy road) to the loading/unloading area.

The path is built inside existing warehouses with concrete or steel structure: along its route it is sometimes hanging and sometimes supported by frames which are structurally independent from the surrounding building. The new structure includes the rails but also a walkable grid to be used during maintenance operations.

The path can be divided in 3 parts according to its typology:

  • Zone “quality building” and corridor: hanging structure on tubular profiles;
  • Zome “packaging” and “cell n. 10”: frame structure with 2 floors;
  • Zone “roof on loading/unloading area”: hanging structure on the truss beam roof through steel bars.

For the various types of hanging structures, in order to verify the bearing capacity of design loads, specific load tests were carried out.
