GEOTECHNICS AND SPECIAL FOUNDATIONS

Geotechnics and Special Foundations

The distinctive expertise of ENSER is the integration of competences in Geology, Geotechnical and Structural Engineering to solve even the most complex cases of soil-structure interaction. Starting from the planning and supervision of in-situ soil investigations and laboratory tests, we create the geological-geotechnical model to define the local stratigraphies and mechanical characteristics of the soil, aiming to the most accurate modeling and design of foundation structures.

With a 30-year experience in dealing with landslides and local instabilities (affecting buildings, roads, bridges, etc.) ENSER has developed specific competences in the geotechnical characterization of soils and rocks, the identification of active or quiescent landslides, the verification of slope stability in static and seismic conditions, the design of all kinds of retaining structures and of solutions for stabilization and consolidation of soft soils (settlement reducing piles, gravel columns, lime and cement stabilization).

The knowledge and the competence developed in these years have been rewarded with the assignment received by Italferr in the framework of the new San Giorgio Bridge project in Genoa. ENSER was involved in the geotechnical and dynamic characterization of the soils, the seismic site response analysis (SRA), the structural and geotechnical design of the foundations (subsoil piles, plinths, abutments)  and of the provisional retaining structures.
