RAILWAY INFRASTRUCTURES

Railway Infrastructures

As well as other transportation infrastructures, the design of a railway system requires a multidisciplinary approach. The projects drawn up for clients such as Italferr, Ferrovie Emilia-Romagna and other Companies specialized in railway maintenance, have allowed ENSER to gain experience in the management of integrated railway works, from route design to the geological-geotechnical characterization, the design of major and minor structures and the interaction with MEP and railway systems.

ENSER Managing Director, Eng. Giorgio Cortesi, was the Project Manager and Technical Coordinator for Consorzio AlpTransit Biasca during the design and project supervision phases for the realization of the southern end of the Gotthard Base Tunnel. This activity was performed for the Swiss engineering firm Project Partners Ltd, who is today a stakeholder of ENSER.

A highlight needs to be given to our commitment for international contractors, especially in the context of the current developments of the Grand Paris Express project in France. Besides the main tunnels, other structures like stations, connections tunnels, aeration systems and service rooms are often in connection with the ground level and require a detailed knowledge of the soil mechanical characteristics, also in relation to the specific construction method.
